While on patrol in the 200 blk. of W. 4th Street, Bethlehem, Northampton County, at 0020 hours this morning, Police observed a 26 year old male being assaulted by three male suspects.
Two male suspects, identified as 28 year old Jorge Luis Espada of 712 Hanover Ave. Allentown, and 30 year old Kuwas Wellington of 538 Walnut Street, Allentown, were arrested by Police Officers at the scene of the altercation.
While Espada and Wellington were being taken into custody, the third male suspect, later identified as William Colon Jr. age 33, fled on foot.
The male victim was found to have sustained two puncture wounds to the upper torso. The victim was treated a Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenburg, but later transferred to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest where he is currently listed in stable condition.
During follow-up interviews, several civilians identified Colon as holding a knife just prior to, and during the altercation. Searching the area in which Colon fled, Officers recovered a knife believed to have been discarded by Colon.
William Colon Jr. of 1940 W. Linden Street, Allentown, was later taken into custody. He is being charged with Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Possession of Instruments of a Crime and False Identification to Law Enforcement. Colon was arraigned and bail set at $75,000.00 and he was committed to Northampton County Prison.
Espada is being charged with Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness.
Espada was released when sober and will receive a criminal Summons in the mail.
Willington was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness. He was released when sober.
