On Thursday, 03 July 2014 at 1744 hours, members of the Bethlehem Police Department’s Vice Unit, Street Crimes Unit and Emergency Response Team served a search warrant at 319 State Street on the City’s southside.
The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation into heroin dealing in the 300 Block of State Street. The investigation was initiated by citizen complaints of drug dealing and suspicious behavior at that address.
Seized at 319 State Street were 270 bags of heroin, worth a street value of 2,700 dollars, a digital scale, packaging materials, a pellet gun and approximately 1,000 dollars in cash.
Arrested was a Pedro Hornedo-Espinal (age 24) of 1027 Mechanic Street, an Albert Flores (age 30) of 303 State Street and a Jonathan Manuel Hidalgo (age 18) of 319 State Street. All three defendants were charged with possession of heroin, possession with the intent to deliver heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy of possession with the intent to deliver heroin. The defendants were arraigned in front of on-duty Northampton County District Justice John Capobianco and bail set at 15,000 dollars each. The defendants were unable to make bail and were committed to Northampton County Prison. The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
