On June 4, 2013 at approximately 1223 hours Bethlehem Police and Bethlehem Fire personnel were alerted to abandoned wildlife in the storm drain in the area of N. New St and Center St. Inside the storm drain were 9 ducklings that had been abandoned by their mother.
Bethlehem Police Officer Benjamin Hackett, who handles animal control duties for the Police Department, responded to the scene along with personnel from the Bethlehem Fire Department. Because the ducklings were abandoned, Pocono Wildlife Rescue was notified to respond to take custody of the ducklings. Barabara Miller, from the Pocono center was instrumental in their safe recovery. The Ducklings were transported by Miller to the Pocono Center where they will be cared for until their release.
