Late Wednesday evening, July 25, 2012, between 10:40 PM and midnight, a series of strong armed robberies and attempted robberies were reported to the City of Bethlehem 911 Center. The first occurred in the unit block of E. North Street. The second occurred in the area of Dellwood St. and E. Union Blvd. The third occurred in the 400 block of Main Street, and the fourth robbery occurred in the 1600 block of Jill Street.
Descriptions provided by the victims indicated that the suspects were all young dark skinned males operating a green Ford Focus. The thieves threatened their victims. One female victim was assaulted by the males.
Bethlehem Police officers searched the City for the car and suspects. Sgt John Lamana located the dark green Ford Focus parked on Fritz Drive. The car was occupied by five dark skinned males. When Police units approached, the vehicle pulled away onto Randolf Rd. where four males fled from the car.
The driver of the car, JOHNNIE JOHNSON JR, age 19, was taken into custody by Sgt. Lamana. Two other males, DANNY STAFFORD JR., age 18, and a 15 year old male were also apprehended a short distance away. Several purses, wallets and sets of keys were in the vehicle.
JOHNNIE JOHNSON JR., 166 Springbrook Road, Port Jervis, New York 12771, is charged with (4) counts of Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, (2) Counts of Robbery, (2) counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Robbery, (2) counts of Theft, (2) counts of Receiving Stolen Property, and (2) counts of Simple Assault.
DANNY STAFFORD, 413 Taylor Street, Bethlehem, Pa. 18015, is charged with (4) counts of Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, (2) counts of Robbery, (2) counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Robbery, (2) counts of Theft, (2) counts of Receiving Stolen Property and (2) counts of Simple Assault.
A 15 year old JUVENILE from Bethlehem, is also charged with (4) counts Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, (2) counts of Robbery, (2) counts Criminal Attempt to commit Robbery, (2) counts Theft, (2) counts Receiving Stolen Property and (2) counts Simple Assault.
JOHNNIE JOHNSON JR. and DANNY STAFFORD will be arraigned later today before Judge James Narlesky and committed to Northampton County Prison pending Northampton County Court action.
The 15 year old JUVENILE was committed to Northampton County Juvenile Detention pending Northampton County Court action.
