|Officer Michael Ogrodnick presenting
the check to Jennifer Lasso
Today, the members of the Bethlehem Police Department Runner’s Club, presented Jennifer Lasso a check for $5000 for the Memorial Fund set up for her children after her husband, Freemansburg Officer Robert Lasso, was killed in the line of duty.
The Bethlehem Police Runner’s Club made up of a group of police officers from Bethlehem who organized the club to promote health and wellness. They went way beyond their mission when they decided to organize a 5k run to raise money for the Robert Lasso Memorial Fund. On Saturday April 21st, over 300 runners came out to support this worthy cause. Officer Michael Ogrodnick said told Mrs. Lasso that the runner’s Club decided to do this, “because it was the right thing to do.” Michael Ogrodnick received tremendous support and assistance from Officers Timothy Cooper, Jim Freed, Al Strydesky, Kelly Walbert, Dwight Schaffner, Michelle Dologite, Doug Nothstein and Ben Hackett. Many other officers assisted in making this first event such a great success, The City of Bethlehem Police Department and the Runner’s Club would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the City of Bethlehem Fire Department for the ladder truck presentation of the colors at the race event and to all members of our community who came out to the event or supported it in any fashion. Thank you!
