ARRESTED: Two Men for Shooting in Marvine-Pembroke

On Tuesday afternoon, March 20, 2012, at 1607 hours, (4:07 PM), Bethlehem Police Units responded to a report of a shooting at 1203 Randolf Road, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Northampton County.

On arrival at the address, Police Officers located a male and female who suffered gunshot related injures. The male and female were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital by Bethlehem City Paramedics for treatment.

An investigation revealed that a physical altercation preceded the shooting. The altercation involved the revving of a vehicle engine. JOESYAN MIRANDA, age 21, (LKA) 375 Hamilton Ave., Bethlehem, Pa. 18017, and ROBINSON MOYO TORRES, age 40, (LKA) 2018 5th Street, Bethlehem, Pa. 18020, were identified as being involved in this physical altercation. During this altercation, MIRANDA pulled out a razor knife. TORRES and MIRANDA then fled the scene in a black Chrysler 300 vehicle.

A short time later, ROBINSON returned to 1203 Randolf Road with a sawed off shotgun accompanied by MIRANDA and other males. The victims attempted to flee into their house at 1203 Randolf Road. ROBINSON fired a shotgun blast into the front of the house which struck the male and female. Children were present. The suspects then fled in vehicles.

Through investigation, the firearm used was recovered in a nearby shed; 1203 Woodbine Street. ROBINSON and MIRANDA were later taken into custody in the area of Catasauqua Road and Airport Road by State Police and BPD Officers.

ROBINSON TORRES is charged with (1) Count Possessing Instruments of Crime, (4) Counts Recklessly Endangering Another Person, (1) Count Prohibited Offensive Weapons, (8) Counts Aggravated Assault, (1) Count Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure and (4) Counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Homicide. ROBINSON was arraigned by on duty Judge Joseph Barner and committed to Northampton County Prison.

JOESYAN MIRANDA is charged with (4) Counts Aggravated Assault and (2) Counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person. MIRANDA was arraigned by the on duty Judge Joseph Barner and committed to Northampton County Prison.

This shooting is still under active investigation by Bethlehem Detectives. Additional arrests are possible.

There are many Bethlehem Police Officers who are responsible for the quick successful conclusion of this case. Our officers from the Bethlehem Housing Authority were able to assist with valuable information in the early stages of the investigation. Officers from our Operations Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Services Unit, and our Emergency Response Team all contributed to this effort. It is through the hard work and tireless efforts of many officers working together that these violent crimes are quickly resolved. These efforts certainly contribute to making our community as safe as is can be. Thanks to all of these officers, two more violent offenders are now in prison and an illegal weapon has been removed from our streets.
